NWBA’s Justin Morneau Scholarship
Our baseball “Home Town Hero,” former MLB player Justin Morneau, has supported New Westminster Little League with funds for new equipment and field upgrades over the years. In 2008, Diamond 5 in Moody Park was renamed in his honour. In 2009, our league introduced the Justin Morneau Scholarship. Since that time, New Westminster Baseball Association has fundraised for and awarded over $25,000 in scholarships!
Up to 3 scholarships (each in the amount of $1,000) are available annually to youth who are graduating from Grade 12 in the current year and who have played at least 2 seasons with New Westminster Little League. Applicants must be intending to pursue post-secondary studies, such as an apprenticeship program, trade school, college or university, and they must include a letter of recommendation with their application.
Update: Congratulations to Alek S. and Liam C., recipients of the 2025 NWBA Justin Morneau Scholarship!
Alek and Liam were presented with their awards at the 2025 NWBA Spring Season Closing Ceremonies and Summer Kickoff on Sunday, June 15th, 2025 at Queen’s Park Stadium in New Westminster. We wish Alek and Liam all the best with their post-secondary studies!
